Missions of the job
You will be responsible for the direction and management of the manufacturing department of Adisseo Animal Nutrition (“ANA”), providing the best conditions of safety, quality, sustainability and hygiene. The manufacturing department of ANA consists of ten production halls, spread over two plants of which one is located in Alcalá de Gurrea and the other one in Barbastro. In addition, you will lead the three manufacturing managers.
You are a key member of ANA’s management team, reporting to the General Manager, working closely together with all stakeholders to ensure that ANA’s production targets are met and that ANA meets its annual and strategic objectives as defined in the business plan.
Drawing on your recognised experience in developing operational excellence skills in a factory of a similar size, the ANA production manager will be in charge of proposing and implementing a plan to become the SBU reference factory within 3 years.
Tasks and responsibilities
The Production Manager is responsible for
- Development of the safety culture of your team and the Process Safety management. You will implement ANA’s HSE policy by participating in management meetings, setting departmental HSE objectives and measuring their achievement
- Compliance of the activities with established QHSE and working standards. You ensure knowledge and application of these standards in the manufacturing plants, as well as compliance with the content of internal regulations
- The management of the production process of the units in terms of quality, time, volumes and costs (fixed and variable manufacturing costs)
- The coordination of your team: you motivate your direct reports and ensure their operational development (management style and communication skills), collective efficiency and training needs and you implement organizational changes if needed
- Organizing ANA’s continuous improvement policy, defining priorities, promoting the establishment and deployment of operational excellence, as well as the coordination of ANA’s various departments and support resources
- Implementing a 360 degree reporting system, based on KPI’s and visual management
- Proposal of the technical and organizational objectives of the Manufacturing Department of Alcalá de Gurrea and Barbastro (Huesca)
- The annual budget preparation of your department and to make the established monthly reports
- Contributing to the factory’s 5-year investment plan and participating in the project groups of ANA investments: you propose and implement measures to ensure a vertical start-up of the investments
Main Skills
HARD SKILLS
- Minimum ten years of experience in a similar position (chemical or premix company)
- Proven experience in implementing operational excellence methods and tools
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and chemical processes is a must
- Knowledge of elementary chemical engineering operations: distillation, esterification, powder blending, spray drying, etc.
- Basic knowledge of accounting and finance is preferred
- Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English (orally and written)
- Knowledge of French language is considered as a plus
- Proficiency in the use of SAP (ECC or 4HANA) and MS Office suite
- Good understanding of business issues and processes
SOFT SKILLS
- Ability to work in a matrix organization
- Change management skills
- Experience with people management and leadership
- Ability to work under pressure, keeping focus on quality, hygiene, sustainability and safety
- Knowledge of the Manufacturing Operating Instructions
- Knowledge of ISO, FAMI-QS and HACCP standards are considered as a plus
EDUCATION
- University Degree in a technical subject: Production Management, Chemical Sciences, Physics, or other education related to industrial activities
- Operational excellence, Black Belt Lean + Six Sigma is preferred
