Coinfections and multiple infections are very common in shrimp farming and have a significant impact in production and profitability. Health promoting additives reinforce the prevention strategy and aim to reduce the impact of infection by multiple modes of action.
This article shows the mechanism of action as well as the performance benefits of Sanacore GM® to support shrimp in coping with coinfections under both laboratory and field conditions. It is concluded that the stimulation of antimicrobial peptide production seems to be an important immune mechanism of the additive, while the preventive inclusion significantly contributes to improving survival and biomass and generates a positive return on investment.
