Finished feed stored for longer period has a much greater chance of losing its quality due to mould growth and oxidation. As for raw materials, the conditions during storage will highly influence the quality of feed in time. To reduce the risk and prevent quality deterioration, implementing a good mould inhibitor and an effective antioxidant program is key. Feed treated with mould inhibitors and antioxidants before going into storage maintain the quality longer and are protected from challenges associated with long-term storage. Furthermore, it must be protected against potential recontamination of foodborne pathogens.
