Adisseo hosts Key Industry Leaders to showcase future new MetaSmart® production facility and discuss the future of sustainable dairy nutrition.
Adisseo recently welcomed 26 key customers from across Europe (EU) and the Middle East & Africa (MEA) for an exclusive event focused on the future of dairy nutrition and of the new construction of MetaSmart® production capacity.
From January 28th to 30th, industry leaders, including feed mill managers and dairy nutritionists, gathered in Burgos to gain firsthand insights into Adisseo’s latest investment: a new state-of-the-art plant dedicated to producing HMBi, the active ingredient in MetaSmart®.
This new facility, integrated into Adisseo’s existing Burgos platform—already home to the production of OH-methionine: Rhodimet® AT88—reinforces the company’s commitment to serving dairy farmers worldwide with innovative and sustainable solutions.
A Solution to Meet Growing Dairy Industry Needs
With global demand for dairy products, particularly dairy fat and butter, continuing to rise, farmers and nutritionists are looking for more efficient ways to increase milk production while reducing environmental impact. The industry is shifting away from excessive protein feeding, and Adisseo has been at the forefront of this transformation for over 30 years, pioneering amino acid (AA) balancing as a key strategy.
MetaSmart® provides a highly effective methionine source for ruminants. By lowering protein levels in dairy cow diets and supplementing with targeted methionine solutions like Smartamine® M and MetaSmart®, farmers can:
- Increase milk production and components.
- Improve lifetime performance of dairy cattle by ensuring methionine requirements are met, essential to support fertility, overall health, and cow longevity in the dairy herd.
- Improve Carbon emissions of milk produced and Nitrogen impact on the environment by feeding rations formulated to reduce urinary Nitrogen excretion, maximizing the incorporation of ingredients with low carbon footprints.
Recent studies have shown that Amino Acid balancing rations using MetaSmart® as the supplementary methionine product of choice increases milk by over 1kg per day, milk protein by 0.14% units and milk fat by 0.2% units reinforcing its role as a game-changer in dairy nutrition. Encapsulated methionine sources cannot be included in pelleted feed without their integrity being compromised, making MetaSmart® the ideal product of choice for inclusion in compound feeds and liquid feed solutions.
Exclusive Access to Burgos Production Facilities
Attendees had the rare opportunity to visit Adisseo’s existing Rhodimet® AT88 (source of methionine in liquid form) production plant and explore the new MetaSmart® Liquid platform, currently under construction. This facility will significantly expand Adisseo’s ability to supply MetaSmart® globally while leveraging Burgos’ well-established infrastructure to ensure a more sustainable production process.
