A trial performed in India demonstrates that adding Selisseo®, hydroxy-selenomethionine, to the diet improves the growth of shrimps by more than 50 percent after 85 days of culture. The study aimed at comparing the effect of two sources of selenium (sodium selenite and hydroxy-selenomethionine) on the growth performance of shrimps.
The shrimps receiving Selisseo® were harvested with a body weight 59 percent superior to the control groups, after 85 days of culture. Another positive effect which could be linked to the addition of Selisseo®, was the absence or very little accumulation of sludge in the bottom of the ponds.
