Taiwan International Fisheries and Seafood Show (TIFSS) will be held on December 3-5, 2020. During the exhibition, TIFSS will host a one-day professional Seminar on December 4, 2020. The theme of the Seminar is ‘Marine Fish Farming Technology Forum – Where formulation meets science”. Adisseo will contribute to this Online event through the participation of Martin GUERIN and Allen WU. Allen WU, Regional Manager Aquaculture APAC, will be the chair for session 2 Innovation Aquafeed 2.0. Martin GUERIN, Regional Technical Manager Aquaculture APAC/ISC, will give a talk on “How to use functional feed additives to battle parasitic infestations”.
Parasitic diseases cause major financial losses in global aquaculture production, estimated between one and 9 Billion USD per annum. In Asia, they represent a major risk factor, with commercial marine cage farming operations often averaging overall survival rates below 30%. While pharmaceutical therapy can sometimes be used to treat such diseases, it is often too late with already irreversible biological effects and financial damages. Therefore, health promoting feed additives are increasingly used to design prevention strategies against parasitic diseases. Mr. Guerin reviews the extensive testing under in vitro, in-vivo, and commercial farming conditions, conducted by Adisseo to demonstrate the efficacy of health promoting additive solutions. Trials results obtained with Apex®Branchia and Sanacore®GM illustrate the impact of preventive strategies on reducing the loss of productivity due to ecto-parasites found in the gills and skin as well as endo-parasites impacting the gut and digestive process.
