Farmed shrimp are exposed to stress factors that affect performance and increase the risk for disease outbreaks. Typically, stress can be induced by fluctuations in water salinity and temperature, composition of the phytoplankton bloom and/or deteriorated water/pond bottom quality.
The present article reviews different additive supplementation strategies aiming to reinforce the antioxidant and immunity mechanisms and ensure optimal disease resistance and performance.
