AQUISHOW BRAZIL 2019, challenging market situation but sustained growth in Brazilian fish farming

05/20/2019

The 10th edition of AQUISHOW BRASIL took place in Santa Fe do Sul, SP, Brazil from 14th to 17th of May. This aquaculture exhibition was attended by 140 exhibitors and attracted more than 3000 visitors, becoming one of the major aquaculture events in South America. At AQUISHOW all stakeholders of freshwater aquaculture are exhibiting, including suppliers of fish fry, veterinary services, vaccines, farming and processing equipment, fish feed and feed additives. This year, many exhibitors focussed on novel technical developments, disease control and the increase of productivity in freshwater fish farming.

Despite the low market prices for farmed fish such as tilapia, freshwater fish aquaculture continues to grow in Brazil. PeixeBR reported for 2019 an increase of 4.5% for the Brazilian fish aquaculture, with an interesting 12% increase in tilapia production. This means that Brazil will farm 400.000 MT of tilapia in 2019, thus maintaining the 4th position in the world after China, Indonesia and Egypt.

Adisseo was present with a booth at AQUISHOW to support its unique portfolio of aquafeed additives, including a wide range of functional additives to enhance nutrition and fish health, resulting in improved productivity for tilapia and local fish species in Brazil.
